Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals
With an open world, Oxenfree 2 is a linear game that needs tasks to be solved in order to be finished. People can still explore the island by going anywhere on the map, but they can't get there quickly.
There are signs on the paths that let players explore, and there are lots of talks between players and their friends along the paths, making it a cozy and friendly experience. Oxenfree 2 is a scary puzzle game with a lot of room to explore.
Grand Theft Auto 5
One of the best-known and loved open-world games of the last ten years is Grand Theft Auto 5. There are many things to do in the world, and the map is pretty big. One of the most interesting things about it is that there is no fast movement. You can drive or call a taxi to get where you need to go, but you can't teleport around the map like you can in some other RPGs.
The taxi service in Grand Theft Auto 5 officially lets you get somewhere quickly, but it's not like the teleport feature that players are used to because they have to go out of their way to call a cab instead of walking.
The setting of Morrowind is very different and interesting, but the game itself is still great, even though it is getting old. Explore the island of Vvanderfell by going through the main story. There is no fast travel, so players have to do this normally.
There are boats and other non-magical ways to get around, but it will take hours to do all of them and they don't go to all the places on the map. In Morrowind, there are unwritten rules that say players should explore the map instead of using the usual quick travel choices.
Death Stranding
When Death Stranding first comes out, there is no fast movement. The very limited feature can't be unlocked until chapter 3, and even then, it's not very useful for travel. 'Fast travel' in this game is for moving around on the map, not teleporting. When a player moves from one safe room to another, they lose everything they were holding.
People who like to take their time should definitely play Death Stranding. The roads are long and can be dangerous at certain times of the day, making it perfect for people who don't like to move quickly.
Subnautica
Since Subnautica is all about exploring, the lack of a fast travel choice is not a surprise. They have to learn how to get around in the underwater world, which takes time but is worth it.
That doesn't mean movement is slow, though. As players play more, they can unlock suits that let them move faster, making the game more fun. Subnautica really does have a beautiful world that begs to be explored slowly and naturally.
State Of Decay
State of Decay is a zombie apocalypse game that stresses the importance of being a good leader and being able to stay alive. Without a fast travel feature, players will have to find food and other goods to keep the group happy and fed. When the undead show up, Happy Wheels players must quickly leave the area or risk dying over and over again.
The fact that players have to get away quickly makes the game harder than most zombie survival games. State of Decay is a rough survival game that doesn't let you go faster.
The Forest
The Forest is a scary movie that starts with a plane crash into a forest. The player obviously makes it through and must keep doing so in a forest full of hungry animals. In the bush, you can use anything to stay alive. You can cut down trees and eat plants.
Part of that is that players can't quickly move around the map; they have to find their way there naturally, which is hard to do when you're being followed. The Forest is a great survival horror game that puts a lot of focus on getting to know the world.
Don't Starve
One of the most famous survival games of its time, Don't Starve, has a simple but effective art style and is very fun to play. To stay alive, players have to move through a procedurally generated world in search of food and resources. Everything else in the world is out to eliminate them.
Sometimes it's dark, sometimes it's funny, and always it's fun, even though each person will die a lot. Don't Starve is one of the best survival games that doesn't let you fast travel.
The Long Dark
In the game The Long Dark, you have to stay alive in the very cold world of Bear Island. Survival is really hard because freezing can eliminate the player just as easily as the animals can, and there's no way to quickly get to a better area when energy starts to run out in a bad one.
To stay alive in the game, you have to think ahead and make plans. This game is very hard, but the rewards are well worth the trouble. If you don't want to fast travel, The Long Dark is the best open-world game you can get.
